Effective Advertising: Logos

1. Naked Juice

Naked Juice is a brand of all-natural fruit smoothies that contain at least one serving of fruit (and some contain vegetables too). The packaging features bright colors and realistic pictures of fresh fruit. I like the bright colors, clean and neat design of the bottle, and the images of fresh fruit because they appeal to my senses and just seeing the drink in the store is enough to make me want to buy it. This logo is effective because it is visually appealing and it accurately advertises what it is selling (if you read the ingredients you see that it is all natural and there are no added artificial ingredients).

2. Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz logo is effective because people associate it with the company even without the name next to it. This company has a reputation for producing beautiful, high-performance luxury cars. Their logo is very simple, clean, and elegant. The small, shiny geometric design appears somewhere on every Mercedes-Benz vehicle, often without the name next to it so that over time people have learned to associate the logo alone with its company.

3. Gatorade

Gatorade is a brand that has been effective at advertising its product for a long time because the logo had remained basically the same for many years, so that people have easily come to associate the logo with the product. When you see an orange lightning bolt, you automatically associate it with Gatorade. When I think of Gatorade, I think of sports, outdoor activities, high-profile athletes, and vitality. The Gatorade lightning bolt symbolizes energy and is a provider of the fuel needed to get you through your daily activities.

4. New York Yankees Baseball

The New York Yankees Baseball logo has become an easily recognizable image because of its association with a successful baseball team in a well-known city. It is a simple design of only two colors--navy and white--and stylized overlapping letters N and Y. Baseball fans know their team's logo, which usually represents the city they play in, but this particular logo is recognizable by baseball fans and non-sports watchers alike. This logo has come to represent more than just a baseball team, but also a city and subculture. When people see this logo, they will think of not only of the Yankee baseball team, but also of the "Yankee" persona of those who live in New York City.

5. Chik--Fil-A
Via http://thestamp.umd.eduhttp://thestamp.umd.edu/food/images/chickFilA.jpg
I like Chik-Fil-A's main advertising strategy, which features cows holding signs that contain the slogan "Eat Mor Chikin." This strategy not only advertises Chik-Fil-A's menu, but it is part of an effort to reduce the amount of beef consumed in the United States. This ad campaign is clever and catchy, and it makes Chik-Fil-A stand out from its competitors (other fast food chains such as McDonald's, Wendy's, and Burger King, all of which feature beef burgers as their main menu item).
